Blue Diamond Reflections

The Illusion of Wealth

Bernie Madoff's victims felt safe.  Real estate speculators and predatory lenders thought prices would go on rising forever.  Herd mentality, we know in retrospect, is after all a human reaction to snowballing profits.  Greed seems to be the vice that cannot be unlearned.  Why, then, reward it?  (AIG: this means you.)

Are investors under delusions of grandeur even now?  The Fed Chairman's voice seems to be cracking here; gentle Ben.  The Treasury Secretary is less vociferous.  The mountain of debt is not easing; China has resumed clamoring for a new global reserve currency, and the economics of an aging populace remain ominous.

To Blue Diamond, this is a basic philosophical matter.  Government takeover of banking and industry is socialistic, and locks in the notion (a great lie) that the economy is too sick to recover on its own.  The rescue of big loser institutions undermines the whole risk-reward ethic, puts corrupt beneficiaries at a competitive advantage and chokes off growth of thriftier rivals.  Private ingenuity made America great, not government interventions, micromanagement, or bailouts.  Decades of fiscal irresponsibility by both political parties have reduced the dollar to an illusion, one soon to unravel.

We applaud the Supreme Court's decision opposing reverse discrimination.

About us:

Matthew D. Green, violinist, inventor, and founder of The Violin School, is Vice President of Blue Diamond Gold Exchange. His favorite series include Standing Liberty quarters, Indian cents and Seated Liberty type. He deals directly with Boston’s premier importer of diamonds from cutters in Tel Aviv and has an unswerving eye for quality.

Steven S. Green, President of Blue Diamond, and author of "Anvil of Avalon: true history of Arthur's Dark Age Brythons", began trading silver in 1965 and considers the present gold to silver ratio ludicrous. An advocate of large denomination pieces, Steve emphasizes proof dollars and gold twenties. In diamonds, he honors only the Gemological Institute of America certificate and cautions against the encroachment of lax standards in coin certification nowadays. Keenly aware of the trends in today's financial markets, Steve encourages his clients to take lessons from history in order to invest wisely for the future.
